Monthly estimate: Calculate daily cost, then multiply by 30 days. Always add a 10% buffer for variability in fuel quality, load fluctuations, and environmental factors.
Example: A 100kVA generator at 75% load consumes 12.0 L/hr. Running 8 hours daily uses 96 litres. Daily cost: 96L × RM3.05 = RM292.80. Monthly: RM292.80 × 30 days = RM8,784.
Factors That Affect Fuel Consumption
1. Load Percentage — Generators achieve optimal efficiency at 70-90% load. Running below 30% causes wet stacking (unburned fuel accumulation), increasing consumption per kW and damaging the engine. Always match generator size to your actual load.
